Types of motors based on usage

The motors we deal in can be divided in 4 categories based on the usage.

  1. E Rickshaw/ E Cart Motor
  2. E Auto motor
  3. E Scooter Motor
  4. E Bike motor

All the motors we sell fall in any one of the category mentioned above

E Rickshaw Motor

All the motors used for E Rickshaw are BLDC (Brushless DC) Motors

There motors can be divided in 2 categories based on voltage:

  1. 48V ( For E Rickshaw with 4 batteries)
  2. 60V ( For E Rickshaw with 5 Batteries)

48V is the most popular current rating being used in the market Its because it needs only 4 batteries of 12v each.

Note: Battery usually comes in 12V so the motor/controller system is on multiple of 12 volts. So 48v = 12v Battery x 4 Pcs and 60v=12v battery x 5 Pcs

In each of this category we are dealing in following powers

48V: 900W | 1000W | 1100W | 1100W | 1200W | 1500W

60V: 900W | 1000W | 1200W

E Cart Motors

For E Carts there are 2 options available. One is the E Rickshaw Motor that is explained above. Buyers usually use 1200W and above power train. Besides this E Rickshaw power train there is one more power train that we sell in Datai Brand..

Whats the Difference

  • Bigger Size:These motors are bigger in diameter and length. Its dia is 128mm as compared to 120mm of normal E Rickshaw motors we sell

  • PMSM Motor : Earlier in this segment also BLDC motor was popular but in last 1 year the demand has shifted to PMSM motors because of its higher torque and higher load bearing capacity. They are very powerful even at inclined hilly surfaces

E Auto Motor

Every vehicle has been divided in different category according to its power and speed. E Auto has been listed in a category call L5. This covers 3 Wheelers with a speed upto 50km/hr and the rated power is usually 3000 Watt.

We are having 3000 watt power train (Power train is a combination of Motor , controller and differential) in 3 rated current – 48v/60V/72V and 2 types of differential system:

  1. Uniaxle – This is the usual rigid differential with brake drums in the at its ends just like the one we use for E Rickshaw. We have this available in Nanya brand and Datai Brand

  1. Independent suspension Gearbox : In this we supply only the gearbox and the axle shafts and brake system is managed by the customer. We find this of power train in Bajaj RE and many buyers like to use this kind of differential system. We have this in Datai brand only

E Scooter

E Scooter motors is different from E Rickshaw Motor. Its called Hub Motor or Wheel Hub Motor or In-Wheel motor. As the name suggest this is a motor inside the wheel and gives direct drive to the wheel. Its size is according to the wheel size required.

E Scooter motors are categorized on the basis of Rated Current (V) and Wheel Size

Rated Current: 48V/60V/72V

Rated Power: 800W/1000W/1200W/1500W/2000W

Diameter: 10”/12”

E Bike

E Bicycle is commonly known as E Bike. In this segment we have 2 types of motors :

  1. External Motor – 24V and 250W
  2. Wheel Hub Motor – 36V and 350W

How its used, we will discuss this later
